Welcome! Hihi Wines is a small boutique winery based in Ormond, Gisborne. The label was launched in 2005 with 200 cases sold in the first year. Growth has been rapid with over 2,000 cases sold in 2010. Forty two award winning wines have been produced in 6 years.
Hihi means "Rays of the Sun" with all grapes sourced from sunny Gisborne, the first city in the world to see the sunrise.
Wines are produced both from grapes grown at the Hihi vineyard at Bond Road and from contract growers.
Main white wines include Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, Sweet As (blend of Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer), Pinot Gris and Viognier.
Main red wines include Malbec, Syrah, Tempranillo, Pinotage and blended red wines.
Hihi wines also produces fortified wines - Captain Nimmo (vintage port style) and Elsie (white port).
Hihi wines recently released its first sparkling wine - Gizzy Fizzy made from 100% Chardonnay.
